Hi friends,
Let’s Dance and FEEL
Feel what comes up as you move—let your feet stomp and glide, let your hips sway, let your core twist, your arms stretch wide, your neck roll free. Scrunch your face, sing out loud, nod your head up and down, side to side—shake, twist, release.
This is your body speaking. This is your energy moving.
Love your body. Love the release.
Notice what leaves you.
Notice what flows back in.
That’s the dance of healing.
Did you know dance can actually help your chakra system?
No, really, this isn’t just a woo-woo waltz or a mystical mambo. Whether you’re flowing in a circle or bouncing in your living room, your body wants to move—and when it does, your energy does too.
And it doesn’t have to be a meditative, sacred dance to have spiritual aspects. In fact, tribal dancing and many ancient dances were practiced as mystical rituals and involved the seven chakras. Your dance doesn’t have to look like what you’ve seen on TV or in movies. Every ancient shamanic practice had its own version of chakra dance. You have yours. No pressure—start with a snap, tap your foot. So shimmy, sway, or stomp. Whether you’re barefoot on a wooden floor or dancing in fuzzy socks in your kitchen—when you let your body lead, the chakras follow.
From Sacred to Silly — Movement is Medicine
You can do this on the dance floor, in a group ceremony, or at home with your playlist on shuffle.
Mystical rituals performed with delicate movements—or full-out expression—whether in a group or solo, still count as chakra dance. So, how do you practice chakra dance in your everyday life?
What does it look like when sacred meets spontaneous… and the spirit or higher self says, “Let’s dance.” What’s that saying… “Dance like no one is watching.” – Susanna Clark and Richard Leigh, 1987. Get silly and maybe invite a friend. Let’s explore how movement and music help awaken and align the seven major chakras.
Chakra Vibes: The Seven Chakras and Their Dance Styles
Root Chakra (Muladhara) – Grounding and Tribal Beats
At the base of the spine, the red root chakra is your foundation of safety, security, and stability. When balanced, it grounds you in confidence and trust.
When Blocked: Anxiety, insecurity, fear, or physical tension in the lower body may arise.
Healing Dance: Move barefoot, bend your knees, and let the beat of drums or bass-heavy rhythms pull you into the earth. Each stomp, sway, and grounded step roots you deeper into the present moment.
Try:
Shake It Out – Florence + The Machine
Warriors – Imagine Dragons
Drum Circle – McGrath James
Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) – Sensual and Flowing Melodies
Orange and located just below the navel, the sacral chakra is the place that needs to move. One of my favorite things is to turn on music and dance—moving my whole self. My hips, the most important part of movement for the sacral chakra, are my favorite to release. When I dance from this place, I feel free emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
When Blocked: This chakra binds us to stuck emotions, closing us off socially and sexually.
Healing Dance: Cue the hips. Undulate, sway, and curve to music that drips like honey. Movement here opens the door to creativity, connection, and flow.
Try:
Smooth – Santana ft. Rob Thomas
You Can Leave Your Hat On – Joe Cocker
Adorn – Miguel
Solar Plexus (Manipura) - Upbeat Empowering Tunes
Yellow and fiery, this chakra is your inner sun. This inner sun shines brightly in self confidence. When blocked self-doubt, insecurity and low self-esteem rise. Outside validation grows, dimming your inner light.
Healing Dance: This is your dance like no one’s watching moment. Bold, confident, maybe even wild.
Try:
Eye of the Tiger – Survivor
Titanium – David Guetta ft. Sia
Fight Song – Rachel Platten
Heart Chakra (Anahata) – Loving and Soothing Harmonies
Green and expansive, the heart chakra opens when you feel safe. When blocked, it may show up as tightness in the chest, poor circulation, or lung issues. Emotionally, imbalance may look like loneliness, defensiveness, or fear of intimacy—often rooted in heartbreak and past wounds.
Healing Dance: Let your arms fly like wings, restoring flow. Imagine love moving out and flowing back in with each step. Every movement becomes an act of freedom and connection.
Dance to songs that bring tears or joy:
Fix You – Coldplay
All of Me – John Legend
Hallelujah – Jeff Buckley
Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) – Clear and Expressive Sounds
Blue, in your throat, this chakra is your voice, your truth, your song. When balanced, you express yourself with clarity, confidence, and freedom.
When Blocked: Tight throat, sore jaw, stiff neck—or fear of judgment and words left unspoken.
Healing Dance: Roll your neck, sway your arms—let your body become your voice. Sing into a hairbrush, hum, chant, or speak your truth as you move. Dancing and singing free the throat chakra, letting energy flow from heart to voice. Each step, each sound, is release.
Try:
Imagine – John Lennon
Unwritten – Natasha Bedingfield
I Am Light – India.Arie
Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) – Introspective and Ambient Flow
Indigo and located between the brows, the third eye is your vision and inner knowing.
When Blocked: Confusion, headaches, overthinking, or feeling cut off from inner wisdom.
Healing Dance: Close your eyes, move dreamlike, hands tracing invisible shapes, body spiraling. Each movement is meditation—awakening clarity and insight.
Try:
Myth of the Cave – Deya Dova
Breathe Me – Sia
Shanti (Peace Out) – MC Yogi
Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) – Elevating and Spiritual Tunes
Violet or pure white, this chakra sits at the top of the head and is called the portal to divine consciousness. It bridges the physical and spiritual, guiding us toward unity, higher wisdom, and enlightenment.
When Blocked: Disconnection, confusion, lack of purpose, or isolation.
Healing Dance: Reach upward, spin slowly, sway into light. Each movement opens space for peace, clarity, and connection to the infinite. Dance as if dissolving into the stars—movement becomes prayer.
Try:
Om Mani Padme Hum – The Tibetan Incantation
Gajumaru – Yaima
Angels – Robbie Williams
Music + Movement = Alchemy
Music is more than background noise—it’s vibration. Each chakra has its own frequency, mood, and invitation. When you choose music intentionally, your dance becomes a kind of moving medicine.
You’re not just shaking your hips, you’re shifting your energy. Music + movement awakens the full spectrum of your emotional and energetic body, allowing you to release, replenish, and return to balance.
Come as you are. Whether you’re looking to release past traumas, enhance your creativity, or simply find greater peace, chakra dance offers a playful, powerful, and transformational path.
You don’t need a class, choreography, or cosmic credentials. You just need your body, a beat, and a little curiosity.
So turn up the volume. Spin, sway, stomp, giggle, glide.
Move your energy. Heal your spirit. And most of all—let yourself dance
Keep moving,
Bobbie
